Zorin OS 5 Release Candidate is here

The Zorin OS Team are proud to release the Zorin OS 5 Core Release Candidate which brings a lot of new and enhanced features to Zorin OS, our operating system designed specifically for Windows users. This release utilizes the GNOME 2.X Classic environment instead of Ubuntu’s Unity shell. We have included new features such as the Compiz Grid, an installer welcome video, a new theme and updated artwork, simplified application names, updated software and many program changes to radically improve and simplify the user experience. We also include our innovative Zorin Look Changer, Zorin Internet Browser Manager and other programs from our earlier versions.

The Zorin OS 5 Release Candidate is made to get your feedback on what we have created so far. It is only available as a 32 bit version but the final version of Zorin OS 5 will also be available in 64 bit. You can get it here.

Currently downloading it and will let you know. I am a Slackware fan having used it since the early 1990′s but if Zorin lives up to expectations and I use it I will feel obliged to support the distro.

Yes Another great release i been using the live cd all day. The only problem with this its too much like Zorin 04 with few changes.I would like to see it with a bit more programs. I love the Ultimate Versions of Zorin which I purcahse when they come out and use as my main OS. I would wish this Distro would compete with the Pinguy OS which is 1.6gb and packed with great apps and programs which is still a small and well pack OS. I just would like to see Zorin to be the Best Linux Distro out there.Rackingman from downunder.

i wish Zorin wouldn’t use Totem as a default ,it doesn’t play on streaming sites such such as movshare Example:(http://movie25.com/redirect.php?url=http://www.movshare.net/video/a598go64tnplz) the gnome m player is much better for such sites.Using VLC would a step up and configuring DIVX 6.1 for DIVX files in Zorin would be heavenly.I know the purist will say nay ,nay but no one says anything restricted plugins such as Fluendo(MP3)lets keep it real and functional.Zorin was my default but currently i am using Pinquay (gnome m player) so i can watch my shows.i am a plug and play type of consumer(no apologies) and i am rooting for you guys

i am downloading it right now. i took a look at the screenshots in the meantime.
everything looks really polished and professional. the theme looks great, the fonts also.
the only thing that i have seen so far to break this professional look is the network applet icon in the main panel. the one that indicates the wireless connection.
it is too big and it looks like it is getting out of the panel borders. the same problem exists for the ethernet icon connection.
these look really bulky and unprofessional and are in a huge contrast with the overall layout of the desktop.
smaller and cuter icons are preferred. ubuntu has done a great job with these indicators in 11.04. the same should do the guys at zorin.
this is my feedback.

For some reason, this release is not showing up as available as an upgrade on my Zorin 4 release. Clue please what I am doing wrong.

Zorin OS 5 will not be available as an upgrade, you will need to do a clean install. This is because an upgrade can make the system unstable.

Nice looks but a few problems and suggestions:
Chrome icon on panel simply does not work.
Every time change is made to gno-menu it gnomenu.py crashes.
Default background is a bit too bright though other backgrounds are excellent.
In the default menu, it would be nice to see a favorite (applications) entry.

I already purchased Ultimate. What happens now, is there a new version of Ultimate? Can I upgrade to it for free or do I need to purchase 5
