Zorin OS 5 Core and Ultimate are here

5 June, 2011 - All, Zorin OS

The Zorin OS Team are proud to release Zorin OS 5 Core and Ultimate which bring a lot of new and enhanced features to Zorin OS, our operating system designed specifically for Windows users. This release utilizes the GNOME 2.X Classic environment instead of Ubuntu’s Unity shell. We have included new features such as an installer welcome video, a new theme and updated artwork, simplified application names, updated software and many program changes to improve and simplify the user experience. We also include our innovative Zorin Look Changer, Zorin Internet Browser Manager, Zorin Background Plus (Premium versions only) and other programs from our earlier versions.

Both Zorin OS 5 Core and Ultimate versions are available in 32 bit and 64 bit versions. You can download The Core version here and you can get the Ultimate version here. The Zorin OS 5 Lite, Educational, Business, Multimedia and Gaming versions will be released over the next few weeks.

We hope that you will enjoy the Zorin OS 5.

Why MD5 sum is for OS4? BTW, are there any mirrors? Could you list direct URL to ISO? Could you prepare ZSYNC metafile? As Zorin is based on Ubuntu I guess I can use ZSYNC to create ZORIN ISO from UBUNTU ISO (I will download only differences). Ubuntu is mirrored at many fast servers…

I ordered the 64 bit Ultimate and got an email saying due to technical difficulties, they couldn’t send me the link. I was all excited, too! Guess I just have to wait another day! Damn!

Just completed the installation of Zorin OS 5 64 and all my tweaks.
After a little bit of effort to get Compiz, Fusion icon, and Emerald all playing together nicely,
and finding where to download Zorin Splash Screen Manager, I have a perfect
working OS. You guys and gals ROCK!! Ubuntu eat your heart out, many will be moving over to Zorin and not have to be forced to use Unity. Yay!

Would like to install this OS, but for some reason the installer does not see my HDD. I started with the drive partitioned for the install, but got nothing. I then installed a different system to the drive, then returned to try Zorin 5 again, still nothing. Next I formatted the drive, but it still didn’t show in the installer. System won’t install because there is no root partition, but there is no way for me to partition the drive or assign which partition is root. Really disappointing.

[SOLVED] – Using the live disc, I went to Menu > System > Administration > Disk Utility then selected the drive to be used for the install under the SATA Host Adapter section. I then selected Format Drive > MBR then click Format. Once that is complete, I partitioned the drive for my system with /, /home and swap space. Exit the Disk Utility. Open a Terminal and type ‘sudo fdisk -l’ (no quotes) and verify that the disc is available and partitioned. Once that was done, the installer was able to ‘see’ the HDD and the install worked normally.

zorin core 5 is nice. but ati hd 5670 graphic driver from ati crashes zorin core 5 it all so crashes ubuntu 11.0.4.im running the low graphics driver,i might add this is no reflection on zorin os core 5 . as they have no controle on this graphics driver, but at end of year i will ditch ati for nvidea for ever as ati all so crashes windows 7.Hats off to zorin team for zorin core 5. very impresisve indeed

Thank you for updating the MD5sums for the Core OS 5. I am now ready to give this OS, one of the most interesting and promising distros I’ve ever seen, a test-drive. I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for your good work.

Cannot pay to download the Ultimate version. The 5.2 Core Live version runs fine although with several error messages that at least a couple of files crashed –> reporting doesn’t recognize which module created the conflict, therefore, it doesn’t report.
Worst, the installer finds a couple of errors during the process and cannot install(!?). Sad.
I’ve installed/tried multiple Linux versions and even the live version of Solaris into the same Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5892 and was able to crash all, however, Zorin is not able to find (include) critical files to install correctly and you are charging for the Ultimate version? I can really say “does not compute.”

Maybe next time/version.

Can you stop nautilus and the browser starting at login? Also I have root’s folder displayed on the desktop instead of the user home directory. Zorin is an innovative OS but I don’t like having to enter my password whenever I n eed to change or edit the preferences etc.
