Zorin OS 5.2 Lite released

The Zorin OS Team has released Zorin OS 5.2 Lite, the lightweight version of our operating system designed for Windows users using old and low-spec computers. This release of Zorin OS Lite is based on Lubuntu 11.04 and uses the LXDE desktop environment. Zorin OS 5.2 Lite features many updates to Zorin OS 5 Lite including security updates, upgraded programs, and an updated icon theme.

Why is not based on Lubuntu 11.10? Or, that is gonna be the next version of Zorin Lite? I think untill then the 12.04 version of Ubuntu will be available… We expect news about the 6.0 (Core & Edu), with Gnome 3.

  There are many issues with the unity interface that needs to be work out and other issues with gnome 3 that also deals with stability. I think we should wait until the Zorin team feels Zorin 6 is ready. Only they know what they are dealing with at this point in time.

    My question regarding the version of Lubuntu used as base for Zorin Lite 5.2 was rather something surprising for me due to the fact that Lubuntu 11.10 is available and could be used as base. That’s all. As for the problems with Gnome 3, I am aware of that. Thank you, Fernando.

      can base it on a more stable code and still have access to newer repositories as needed (with a click, i believe)… just have to remember to turn off the newer pools except for when absolutely necessary (cheese, for example)
      i’m sure zorin has a nice tutorial explaning stable and unstable repositories and how to turn them on or off, right?

      –initially i decided i didn’t like this, but it has grown on me and may supplant mint as my default ubuntu install
      
      a couple of small criticisms… the colors could be toned down a bit, more pastel, like windows 7… use more stylized icons, less blocky (?)

very slow download, decided to quit… where’s the torrent? I’d like to be able to give this to windows drones on cd… live, right?

guess i’ll download it later, while i’m watching a movie i guess (busy trying new distros atm…)

have to say the name and the look are a little too windows for me

an excellent operating system. but how else can i buy this OS while in kenya. without paying through paypal since this service is pritty expensive. I have a visa card and want to buy the OS through fair means

  You can download and install the free version and then install all the software you need (free, as well). So, no payment issue.

I use linux Live USB creator with Zorin OS 5 Lite. Are there any plans to make a persitence mode? That would be great! Thanks. P.S. I love this OS. I used to swear by Linux Mint, but I now like Zorin better!
