Zorin OS 6.1 Educational Lite is here

The Zorin OS Team have released Zorin OS 6.1 Educational Lite, the latest evolution of the Zorin OS Educational Lite series of operating systems, designed specifically for Windows users utilizing old or low-powered hardware for educational purposes. This release is based on Lubuntu 12.04 and uses the LXDE desktop environment to provide one of the fastest and most feature-packed interfaces for low-spec machines. This new release includes updated software, the newer Linux Kernel version 3.2, as well as other improvements. We also include lots of educational software for primary, secondary and tertiary education students as well as our innovative Zorin Look Changer, Zorin Internet Browser Manager, Zorin OS Lite Extra Software and other programs from our earlier versions in Zorin OS 6.1 Educational Lite.

I am little bit concerned at all with Zorin Lite versions. I am not running a slow, neither old machine. Still I want to squeeze the best possible performance from my PC. My IT needs requires that from me. I hope I will be able to see a 64 bit version of the Lite edition of Zorin in the future.

I am an avid user of Linux and Windows and prefer Linux over the latter
and believe the most likely way Linux will ever be able to get a Windows user
to switch is to make a Distro that is as familiar as Windows has become
to the masses. I believe Zorin 6 has done it’s level best to produce
such a product and from what I can tell so far, it will become a viable
competitor.
Simplicity goes a long way with most basic users.

It fails to install at the ‘Creating user’ stage, either from live DVD, or from USB pendrive, whether installed via UNetBootIn or ‘sudo dd if=/… of=/dev/sd*’
