Hi Swarf,

I advised my oldest brother recently about using cloud services, I hope he gets to t read this too!. :D

I personally will never ever not in any lifetime use any cloud services, they are open to abuse/attack from all sorts of weirdo's out there!. :D

Always backup your data to an external USB device and also on another safe partition. (Create at tleast two backups in case one goes "Doolally". :D

Not only our data is in the cloud but also our money is there.

http://yle.fi/uutiset/nordea_online_ban ... ht/7917636

Some day it can also be disappeared like these news from Nordea tels. Where we can backup our money, it is more complicated. I hope that it works opposite way so that suddenly there were lot of money in the cloud.

Hi Swarf,

if the Company I work for say use it, then I don't have a problem; because it is their problem when things go wrong!.

I, like I said above, won't use it and I would advise my boss against it too!. :D

Remember last Xmas when someone hacked Xbox/PlayStations server, millions of people couldn't get their game fix because of a DOS attack on cloud server access (lack thereoff!). :D

German car manufacturers BMW, Audi and Daimler are interested in buying Nokia's HERE map and navigation business. HERE is already widely used also in ready installed cars' navigators. Nokia has launched a tender in order to get a better price than the book value of 2 billion euros of HERE business.

I will never use a credit card, if I cannot pay for something, I wait until I have the money, why pay 10 or more procent on top of the price!. :D

Swarfendor437

Tue Apr 28, 2015 11:30:57 am

Well it actually doesn't work like that in all circumstances. For example, when I worked in a different job, many years ago in Accounts, the Finance Manager would not allow a certain Credit Card for payment unless the holder agreed to pay the 4% that the business would be charged for allowing that Card to be used! Interest on my current account is better than the retailers - and only ever had charges applied if I had a memory lapse but 99.9% of the time bills are always paid off - not a good customer for the Credit Card people!

Also my mother-in-law asked a big brand shop if they were prepared to do a discount for cash - they would only accept Credit Card/ Debit Card! :o

There is a mess with the unreliable news what Nokia is going to do with its phone business. Only few days ago there was some very reliable looking news that it will come back to phone business and use Android os. It also had that N1 Android tablet on the Nokia's internet page and presented it on Nokia's stand in China. Nokia has huge amount of phone related patents and wants to get income of those. People want also to buy preferably Nokia instead of Microsoft branded devices. So, never know whether this was the "final news" related to that business. My best guess is that if Microsoft fails with phones, there will finally come a Chinese or Taiwanese "Nokia" phone and Nokia sells or licences all ip. rights to that manufacturer.

Now the rumored Lumia phones' characteristics are "a little" more modern. "Cityman" has a 5.7-inch screen, 8-core processor, 3 gigabyte working memory, 32 gigs of storage, 20-megapixel camera and a 3300 mA battery.

"Talkman", in turn, is said to have 5.2-inch display, 6-core processor, 3 gigabyte working memory, 32 gigs of storage, 20-megapixel camera and a 3000 mA battery. These Lumias will also be the first Windows 10 preinstalled phones.

Promising news that there will be a real GNU/Linux open source based mobile os., Sailfish, competing with Google's Android.

That os. is developed for and used in Jolla phones and tablets but ported also to many other Android devices.

Talking of Android, I tried out the OS recently, I would not recommend it to a serious Linux user as it sucks imo!. I would rather sit naked in a public place using Windows 8 to be quite honest!. :D

Jollas marketing message is:
"The world doesn't need yet another smartphone – it needs a new way of thinking. That's why Jolla was born. Meet the Jolla smartphone powered by Sailfish OS".

Lack of Home-Button is not a mistake, Jolla phone and Sailfish os.' user interface has been on purpose made differently so that it is easy to hold and navigate just using one hand (without any buttons). That is not so valid feature with tablets, due to bigger size, you have to use there both hands (if you hold it with one hand).

Hi Henriolavi, What you have to remember is some people get stuck in their ways (in much the same way some people have difficulty in migrating to GNU/Linux) because it is what they are accustomed to = "familiarity breeds contempt".

I admit that Marc Dillon had his personal reason to develop a better navigation solution than just copying Android- Windows- and iPhone's Back- and Home-Buttons to Sailfish. That is just the positive thing how designs evolves.

"Is SourceForge up to its old tricks?" - quote from the headline article in Linux Format issue 200.

"...In a blog post Gordon Lyon (http://bit.ly/SFHijacksNmap) the program's author has alleged that the original download page has been made blank, and a new page hosting the download - along with many other download links that will install unwanted programs - has been created by SourceForge. Although Lyon has confirmed that as of yet no additional software has been included with the Nmap installer, he's understandably annoyed at SourceForge hijacking his account, and he's wary that it might include Trojan installers in the future. SourceForge is likely to defend its actions as a legitimate way of offering its users choice, while gaining advertorial money to keep the site going, but for now we would suggest not downloading anything from SourceForge until we find out more."

Stay tuned! :D

I remember going to that site and not finding what I needed to download. Way too many other downloads that I didn't want or need. So I quit going there all together.
