Hi
I like the look of Zorin OS so I have downloaded the Lite version of 5.2 to install on my Asus 901 eee. Before installing I wanted to check it out so ran the live option fromthe USB (created with LiLi) All look good except that it will not register with my Wi-fi.
The Eee 901 has a Ralink 2860 wi-fi chip/card and I had problems awhile back with Distros not working with it, but eventually found the Ubuntu based distros like Easypeasy, Leeenux worked, so I expected Zorin to work without problems.
I am reluctant to install without knowing that everything will work, Could someone advise me if this problem can be resolved.
Thankyou in advance

p.s. Really like the look and options available in Zorin

Hi,

follow the above link and it will give you info and tips on what to do.

Please bear in mind that a 'Lite' version of any OS has a lot missing from it and I can only recommend using the full version!!.

You can also look here for the 'firmware':

Hi.
I opened up a similar thread to yours. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1581

To cut the long story short, probably your card can be enabled after doing the necessary upgrades and installing the necessary drivers/firmware. But to check that 100% you will have to install zorin in a usb stick (install, not run in live mode). At least this is what I am planning to do.

Thanks you all for your help, Initially I think I will try downloading the full version and see if it resolves the issue. If not I will attempt to follow the other suggestions with regards to building the driver etc. I,ll let you know how I get on
Many thanks.

Hi,
After Googling my problem I found a post on the 'Asus eee' forum suggesting that by blacklisting the items which I believe caused a conflict and prevented the wifi connecting. I ran the entrys below in terminal and thus far the wifi connects without problem. I have tested it at home and at a friends over the last 3days, all o.k. so far.

echo "
blacklist rt2800lib
blacklist rt2800pci
blacklist rt2x00usb
" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
