(CLOSED) USB Install Trouble

ZorinNoob

Hello, first post here.

I'm trying to install Zorin OS 9 Core (32 bit) onto a USB drive. I'm using Universal USB Installer 1.9.5.9 (because Zorin is an option in the pulldown menu). I've downloaded Zorin to my Windows XP desktop. When I try to install, I get the following message:

Can not open file C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\zorin-os-9-core-32.iso as archive

My CD drive doesn't work, so a boot from disk isn't an option.

I'm not just new to Zorin, but Linux as well, so I have no idea what to do next.

Hi,

go here:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7171

and click on the Windows version link near the top, take your time to read through the install process and help links!. :D

Once you download Unetbootin for Windows, all you need to do is double click it to run it!.

Do you have the free version of Zorin OS?. The Ultimate version must be first unpacked but not the free version!. :D

Ok, the download worked! And the thumbdrive is set up. I set up my system to boot from the USB, but I have a new problem.

It starts up, and a screen comes up

UNetbootin
Default on a white line, on a blue background. Below it says Press "Tab" to edit options

Automatic boot in _ seconds where it counts down from 10 seconds

but instead of booting, it rolls over to 10 seconds again.

When I press Tab, I get /ubnkern initrd=/ubninit

Now what?

I appreciate the help, Wolfman.

Hi,

"Default" is the top option, beneath it you should also see something like "Try Ubuntu without installing", try that option!. :D

Hi,

did you format the USB stick before using Unetbootin?:

Hi,

you can try pressing the "Tab" key and typing "live" when the prompt comes up, see the following link for other suggestions!:
