Must press CTRL ALT DELETE to exit KODI 17

I have KODI 17 "Krypton" installed and working well in ZORIN 9.0. When exiting KODI, I hit KODI`s "Exit" tab, but nothing happens. I have waited more than a couple minutes... but nothing!
I have found that I have to press the CTRL-ALT-Delete keys simultaneously, to bring up a ZORIN log out/log-in box in order to exit KODI and re-enter ZORIN.
Is this a KODI problem or a ZORIN problem?

I suspect a combination. Always best to stick with the version of an application that runs well on the platform in use or in other words don't fix what ain't broke!
