Hi.
Reboot. See if your laptop has the wifi working. If not open terminal and write
Code:
sudo modprobe wl

Your wifi shoud spring to life. Wait will the connection drops off. If it does, open terminal and post back the result of the following command:
Code:
dmesg | grep wl

pegasus

Wed Feb 06, 2013 3:25:31 am

Connects with sudo modprobe wl. Then disconnects. See dmesg.

Do you also have the ethernet cable plugged in?

Also, could you please post the result of the command:
Code:

Hm.
Try this.
Open terminal and write these commands the one after the other:
Code:
sudo rmmod iwlwifi
sudo modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1

See if you get any disconnections. If not, I will tell you how to make it permanent:

Code:
echo options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/51-disable-6235-11n.conf

It is working much better, however it looses connection for a moment then reconnects. But over all much better then it was. Well enough that I ran the second command, making it permanent. :D I am planning on purchasing and installing Zorin OS Ultimate, will it require the same fix? I came from Ubuntu running dual boot with Windows 8 and did not like 8 at all, mostly a headache. I re-installed 7 and had done some reading on Zorin OS. So far I feel I made the right decision. I wanted to learn to not just "read but also write" as a professor at MIT said. Again I thank you for your time and help.

Glad to hear that.
Is your wifi loaded automatically after each restart? If not, let me know and I will tell you how to do it.

On another note, we have figured out that your problem is that your card is disconnected when it receives 802.11n "data" from your router. This is why we "told" to your wireless card to disable the "n" data.
So you could also try to enter your router settings and change the transmission 802.11n to either 802.11b or 802.11g or 802.11b/g.

I install Zorin 6.1 Ultimate and the problem resumed. I tried the fix but no success. I did some research and found the drivers for Intel here: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Dri ... ed_Devices. But how do I or can I install these? Mine is the N 1000.
PS: I did try to change the protocols on my router but can not change.

Edit, got it working again. Re-installed Zorin and ran commands. It's 1:00 am and time for some sleep. Still would like to be able to install Intel Centrino Wireless N 1000 driver. For now working. :D

Sat Feb 09, 2013 10:55:33 am

Just checked the link you gave in your above post and downloaded the iwlwifi centrino N1000 driver for kernel 3.2+ (iwlwifi-1000-ucode-39.31.5.1.tgz).

No need to download or install anything. You already have the latest driver loaded in your kernel (in /lib/firmware).

All is working well however I need to run the command to disable 'n' each login. Can you show me how to enable on startup? Once that is done I should be all set. Again, thank you.

Open terminal and run
Code:
sudo gedit /etc/rc.local

In the file that will open, add the following line right above the last line that says "exit 0"
modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1

Save, exit, reboot and see if it works.
