Keeps going off soon as I authenticate is turns on, after I close go back it's off. On bottom where you add or remove rules I have nothing clicking + says preconfigured above is incoming-deny/ outgoing-allow do I need to change anything?

I at one point thought the same was happening to me but after doing some research realized that the firewall is not going off. The gui version just shows a faded out window showing the status as off until you authenticate. This is just a default screen and does not represent the state of your firewall. This can be verified by accessing the terminal by pressing Ctrl + Alt + t

and then copy and paste the following command in to the terminal and press enter:

Code:
sudo ufw status

then enter your password and press enter.

You will see that the firewall is indeed on even though the gui shows it to be off until you authenticate. I noticed this in Zorin 6 and 7 Core/Ultimate
