Since canonical tries to be the Linux MS are there any plans to release a zorin os with debian base like linux mint does? I am switching from windows to linux cause I want to quit these spying features from windows. Would be worthless if my new linux would spy me too.

What you have to remember is that Canonical spyware is Amazon AWS - there is no such thing in Zorin - it now tells to you to disable the proxy collection information. It only becomes insecure the moment you decide to start services that require your location information such as Weather and Maps - just like your smart phone!
