Sun May 20, 2012 11:04:01 am

Just tried it running live on USB
No running clock amazing I've had wrong time before but no time is a first.

Also my WiFi as usual doesn't work, as on all OS based on 3+ kernels I have tried, was hoping Zorin 6 would be different.
:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
Not looking for help this is just feedback will wait for final release before thinking about installing.

Cheers Auldyin

Hi swarfendor437
Yes that's the thing WiFi indicates OK but when you try to use, it works for about 30sec. and then nothing, and eventually disconnects.
But I love 5.2 so no worries.

Cheers Auldyin  :P 8-) ;) :) :D

Just thinking back to when I first tried Zorin 5.2 on a USB stick everything worked great first time. That's why I installed it.

Hi Auldyin,

the time will only display once you tell the installer what country you are in, you can go to system settings and change the clock and that should do it also, unless you install or do that, it doesn't know where you are and just stays static!!.

Regards Wolfman :D

Also the max. speed should be 54 for WPA/WPA2.

To all Zorinders
I added Ubuntu Tweak and Banshee and rumbled about in Package Manager and added Applets, screenlets, backgrounds etc.. and have made a few desktops I could work with. see picts.---

Hi Auldin,

First of all di you see my post about fixing the "time" issue? viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2107

Also, could you please post the outcome of the following commands to see if I can get to the bottom of your wireless problem.

Code:
sudo rfkill list all

Code:
sudo lshw -c network

Code:
dmesg | grep -i iwl

Thanx

madvinegar

Sun May 27, 2012 2:04:52 pm

Also Auldin, as I suspect something, could you also try this on your zorin 6 release with the iwl4965 driver:

Open terminal and write:

Code:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/options.conf

and add the following line

options iwl4965 11n_disable=1

Reboot and let me know.
If it does not work, post the results of the commands I said in my post above.

I only wish swarf could see this! :D
Very glad you got it working, both time and wifi.
Just to understand, did you actually add the line I suggested in options.conf? (I suppose that you did not have a file named options.conf but it was created with gedit and you added the line and saved the changes?)

Yes Madvinegar
I did as instructed got a blank document added the line and saved.

Just to let you know what I did. As I suspected your wireless card gets confused with the "N" wireless option. We have disabled this option so now your card only picks-up the "b" and "g" networks.

Don't you dare forget me when you win the Lotto!!! :D :D

Should we mark this topic as solved then?
