I've been hunting around and can't find anything that predicts when a major update to Zorin might be released based upon the latest Ubuntu version (18.04). Any info?

according to Artyom a new version based on Ubuntu 18.04 is scheduled end of Summer begin of Automn.
Zorin likes to focus on release when ready

I agree with the above which leaves us with zorin Lite. Sure you can pimp this with all sorts of stuff including Compiz/Emerald but new users see the default look and then many just switch off.
For good reasons mostly associated with money, Windows and Android will continue to monopolize the market so why has Linux also shifted towards the flat, colorless, restrictive and boring? Far from attracting new users, which it doesn't, the majority of established Linux users like myself don't want this "new look" stuffed down our throats and begrudge the time it takes to configure a new system with a decent set of window decorations.
