New version soon?

I've been hunting around and can't find anything that predicts when a major update to Zorin might be released based upon the latest Ubuntu version (18.04). Any info?

Hi, Zorin 12.3 was the last major release and only just out recently. You have to remember that small forks of Ubuntu don't run to the same timescale. Zorin comprises of the two Zorin brothers plus 2 full time-developers. Zorin OS 12 is the first Zorin release to be a 'rolling' release so that at whatever version you are at, updates will get applied taking you up to the next release without the need of a fresh install or complex updating. Releases will only be pushed out once all testing has been done to ensure a stable transition to the next iteration.

If the interview Artyom gave to Destination Linux (https://destinationlinux.org/destinatio ... pisode-65/) the Autumn release will support snap and flatpak packages - but there will STILL be a need for Synaptic Package Manager in my book as outlined in my "Unofficial Manual for Zorin 12.x".

I just hope the new release improves on the default look.

"Gnome 3.28 is a sterile, counterproductive pseudo-touch concept that serves little purpose on the desktop".

I agree with the above which leaves us with zorin Lite. Sure you can pimp this with all sorts of stuff including Compiz/Emerald but new users see the default look and then many just switch off.

For good reasons mostly associated with money, Windows and Android will continue to monopolize the market so why has Linux also shifted towards the flat, colorless, restrictive and boring? Far from attracting new users, which it doesn't, the majority of established Linux users like myself don't want this "new look" stuffed down our throats and begrudge the time it takes to configure a new system with a decent set of window decorations.

It is fairly easy to change from paper to Hicolor icons which I explained in the Unofficial Manual of 12 Core.
