The future of Blu-Ray

Have there been any advancements with having Blu-Ray work out of the box in future releases? I know there are a few work arounds like here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Restr ... ayAndHDDVD

It would be great to see Linux jump this (DRM) hurdle.
