That justifies my paranoia!
Have you ever noticed that for every Google App there is their clause which states - "we do not store personal information" - they don't have to - your IP address is all they need+ browsing habits+ whether you looked at Area51+ on Google Earth+ gathering Exif data on your Picasa+... Need I go on?
On the one hand, I am in total agreement about the user control (and as one who adheres to libertarian principles, the argument "if you aren't doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about" is unacceptable).
But on the other, having had to use "alternatives" for a lot of my life on Linux, having the new "biggest kid on the block" readily installed in my system is kind of refreshing. I enjoy talking to IE people and saying "what? You don't run Chrome?" and getting snobby like IE5 people used to get while I used Mozilla. Oh, sure, Chrome is a little too much like the new IE, and it's got pop ups and security vulnerabilities, tries to own every identity you have online and after a while it runs really slow and overheats my system. But that's the price of being #1. Most days I am willing to make that trade off.
And I have Midori anyway, in case I change my mind.
