I can't believe I am first!

I have recently become aware of Zorin and tried it out after installing on a USB memory stick and was struck by two things:
1) Speed of booting - the fastest of any I have tried this way so far and I have tried many of the super small distros
2) snappy and speedy performance generally - again a really commendable attribute considering that Zorin is not a lightweight.

Congratulations to all who have made this possible.
I have some more to play with before I can say more about the useability and stability - I would like to install normally on a HDD and try to use it as my primary OS.

Cheers from Oz

Hi there from another Aussie!

I have known about Zorin for some time but unfortunately I have always been less-than-blessed when it came to download speeds (prohibitively so, something like 1.5 kb / s MAXIMUM) for many things hosted on ibiblio. Thankfully I now have it and I am thoroughly enjoying it so far.

I hope to see this forum take off like the other one has soon :)

My thoughts, too.

It would be a pity if Zorin Linux / Zorin PC customer relations suffered from any perceived lack of communication / PR / customer support.

Not first, but new.

I have been using Mint for maybe a year, then I put Windows 7 back on as not all things functioned to my liking. But then I suffered the dreaded blue screen of death, well, the computer did, not me! I was cheesed off with 5 minute boot ups with W7 and those interminable upgrade downloads, antivirus scans and all the other joys (I don't think!) that go with Windows. So I put Zorin 4 on besides W7.

You know what? I now only go to W7 out of curiosity for a quick comparison to Zorin. Zorin is so good, it does everything I want, and more. So, why leave W7 on my hard disk? I'm not going to. When Zorin 5 comes out I am going to do the Ultimate (pun intended btw) and go 100% Zorin. Finally, goodbye Windows!

I do computer refurbishing for a local not-for-profit and I have stopped installing Winders on any of the comps I prepare. If they have never been online before, I install Mint. For most folks who are moving from Winders I gladly install Zorin because it has the lowest learning curve for them. Keep up the good work guys...

Hello from USA (Texas),

I found out about Zorin from a man selling software at a flea market here locally, I ran with it hook line and sinker LOL. I love Zorin. If I can overcome to obstacles I would be very happy.
1. Sync a windows mobile phone with Zorin
2. Get Respondus Lockdown Browser to work.

Thanks so much to the people who started Zorin, it is great!!!

I believe it was an unfortunate matter of timing moving the web pages at the same time they are pressing to get out the new release. The web site doesn't exude feelings of a substantial number of folks working at Zorin. The fact that they sell software that can be downloaded easily indicates their under capitalization.

May I suggest a couple of remedies? 1) donate 2) volunteer

The first is easy to accomplish because there is a donation icon on the main download screen. But the second is far more difficult. To find trusted volunteers to moderate takes time - and I'm sure its being worked on.

FewClues I believe the reasoning behind donating is that it reflects appreciation for a bit of extra work that the Zorin group put into the premium versions (rather than being under capitalisation). Whilst the free version is equally capable as any of the purchased editions, the premium versions have extras (not only aesthetic, but they include additional programs etc) that take the work out of a new installation for users who want a version tailored to their use - like business / games - and I guess especially for those new LINUX users in general.
