Hi

I have just joined yr forum. I have installed Zorin OS 6.4 64 bit and I am extremely impressed with what I have seen so far. I am currently using the Windows 7 type start menu. I have Ubuntu 9.04, 10.04LTS, 12.04LTS 32bit on my old PC and Ubuntu 12.04LTS 64 bit on my new PC. I installed Zorin on my new PC. I decided to try Zorin because i am extremely dissatisfied with the direction that the Canonical developers are going with Ubuntu. My big gripe is that they view my desktop as a smartphone / ipad. I also do not like the Unity desktop, so I am lookingfor an alternative because I will not be installing 14.04LTS.

I have come across an odd problem which is happening in my installation but not on the live cd. If I have more than one window open and they touch/overlap the top window is always blank.

Yr developers are doing an excellent job with the distro.

Philip

Have you tried installing the proprietary (nvidia) drivers? Look in 'Menu | System Tools | Administration | Additional Drivers'.

Yes that was the first thing I did after installing Zorin.

Hi I do not know whether this is relevant. My monitor is a LG HD with a maximum resolution of 1920x1080. I am running my desktop at this resolution. The lower resolutions make everything look short and wide. My PC details are:
Gigabyte B75M-D3H UEFI compliant motherboard
Intel I5 33MHz dual core
32GB ram
2 x 2TB hard drives
1 X 1TB hard drive
2 x DVD writer
Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium sound card

The one 2TB hard drive has Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The other 2TB has Zorin OS 6,4 64 bit, Linux Mint 15 64bit and Ubuntu 12.04LTS 64 bit
the 1TB is a data drive

Hope this helps.

Oops sorry I forgot to mention in my answer to yr question about installing the Nvidia drivers. I first had to install the modem manager that Ubuntu 12.10 uses because the modem manager that Zorin OS and Ubuntu 12.04LTS uses does not work with my Huaweii HDSPA 3G modem. . I first had to install the later modem manager before I could connect to the internet. I did report this to the Ubuntu folks on launchpad but never heard anything afterwards.

Sorry for the omission.

Philip
