I am brand new to Linux and was turned onto Zorin OS after watching a YouTube video.

After looking at the Zorin OS website, and then the blog, I learned there was something called Zorin OS 8 educational.

Can anyone explain exactly what "educational" includes, or does, over Zorin OS core.

In the blog it mentions; "Zorin OS 8 Educational, the education-oriented version of our operating system designed for new Linux users."

I'm just wondering if; "education-oriented" means the OS will help me learn how to use it. Or if "education-oriented" means it's an OS geared towards students going to school?

Thank you very much for your help!!!

Hi bigtruck747, the educational version is full of applications that will help young learners at school - not about Zorin! :D

I don't have a full list but it includes the famous primary educational package 'GCompris' (so called as it is developed by a French team) which has various primary (elementary) school packages (for an idea of what is included in Gcompris take a look here: http://gcompris.net/index-en.html.

There is also Tux-Paint: http://www.tuxpaint.org/

TuxMath etc: http://tux4kids.alioth.debian.org/

Hangman - Word search.

Lettres - Learn French words

Marble - Interactive Geographic Globe

You can also add Educational packages to a standard Zorin install - just search for 'Education' in Ubuntu Software Center or synaptic! :D
