[SOLVED] real time backup

Hi

I used to run real time backup on my Windows XP. I have a total of 4 laptops and I use mainly 2 of them frequently and 2 are pretty much redundent (just games and backup machines and yet to be moved to Zorin).

All my computers connect to a central NAS drive which also serves other devices in the house. I would like a real time backup solution in Linux and as of yet I have not found one.

I am sure am I not the only one who would like this type of software so I am guessing there must be a solution. What do you guys use?

Kind Regards,

Wolfman

take a look here:

I simply copy all my files to another partition/external drive myself!.

rsync will do what I would like it to do. It would be perfect if it could be called upon after a time limit.

Can you call a rsync command when the computer is told to shutdown, hibernate or suspend? If so, how.
Since asking this question I have found this post:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=990796 - DO NOT FOLLOW THAT POST. I did and now I can't boot my computer at all - not even from a usb stick.
So I am going to try that. If that works then I will let you know how I get on. The power of google.

I will try and see if I can put it in my fstab to get it to run on bootup and I will report back to see if that solves the issue.

The other back up programs are not really what I would like. I want the directory structure to be maintained on the NAS so when I look at the NAS the files make sense to me. If you get what I mean.

Hi all,

For those who may be interested I have found this:
https://www.syncovery.com/download/linux/

It is a free program which allows for real time sync and for timed sync over FTP, Local Network and even Local machines. I am using it and I like.

Kind Regards.
