media streaming server

Is there a media streaming server like Serviio that runs well on Zorin?

This function does not appear to be a strong point in Linux and is a problem that needs to be addressed.

Windows has a dozen or so such programs that are free, simple and efficient, this does not appear to be the case in the Linux world.

I have not switched to Linux in the past as I was a keen gamer, the only stumbling block for me at this time is running my PC as a home server.

Could something like Serviio be included in the software package of Zorin 9? Rygel is a Linux based media server that has worked for me in the past, could that be a contender?

You could always try to do this yourself following this tutorial:

Have you not thought about XBMC instead? ;)

Thanks for that :D

Rygel looks the best option to me as it is a dedicated server program.

I'm not a big fan of XBMC, it tries to do too much. MiniDLNA was also recommended to me, I will have to take the plunge and install the OS fully, the Live option is just window shopping.
