I am a complete newbie to Zorin and linux. THe issue I have is that I want to join my computer to my windows 7 workgroup and view files on my zorin 9 ultimate machine. I have tried using the search on google and youtube I can see the windows network but when I try to access it it asks for a password. I have tried every combination whether my windows, zorin to access but it doesn`t let me in. BTW I really love the zorin 9 ultimate really easy to use and I am getting the hang of using the terminal just cant get the network set up .The other issue I have is that I have it on an acer revo 3610 which needs an nvidia driver ,, have installed the proprietery drivers but every time I switch the computer off it needs to be resized to fit my screen ... Hope you guys can help??????????

For workgroup and sharing:
http://www.7tutorials.com/how-access-ub ... -windows-7You may need to click on the author's hyperlinks to see previous relevant articles - making your machine part of the same group.
With regards to graphics, when you boot, can you press the E key to edit the boot parameters? if you can, enter:
- Code:
acpi=off nomodeset forcevesa

Thank you for your very quick reply I will give it a go and let you know how i get on... I really like the OS and being new to linux it does take time. I would like to ditch windows altogether but if I can link to my windows network and then add more computers with Zorin (I have an old acer netbook that I have put zorin 9 core 32 bit on) then I would have more confidence in being able to setup the workgroup in my system. I am also looking at adding an ubuntu server and just moving everything to linux but I need to gain the confidence in setting the whole thing up
Thanks

Well I have got the network to see my windows device , still cant see the shared folders but I am able to use the network printer attached to my windows machine .. I cannot get the nvidia settings at all I have tried to enter E at start up nut it does not recognise the acpi-off command ? I am slowly but surely moving forward ...
Thanks guys

Still cant get the scaling issue sorted with the display but managed to share files. I had to add the username and password in windows user accounts and it worked
Thanks guys
