Cool developments

I updated the Cinnamon desktop on my copy of Zorin 15 lite. It comes with some pretty cool new additions which you can look up if interested.
But the most striking, for me, was that when you download a file, the Browser button on the panel highlights the entire button end to end with the download progress.
Even with that window closed, I can glance at the screen and immediately know the progress of a download file that I am waiting on, perhaps while multi tasking on other windows.
Major-Props. I love it.

And what is the Big File I am downloading and waiting on?
A 10 year old has re-introduced the Unity Desktop, updated and patched for Ubuntu 20.04:

I am going to explore the desktop and see if I can do any theming with it.

It's great that youngsters are following in Brothers Zorin who started at a similar age. One of my favourite adaptations of the unity desktop was this beautifully crafted one from Oz:

Does that one use Unity 8 or Unity 7? The linked one in the OP uses Unity 7.

I don't know but I think from memory it did not include the Amazon spyware - it was based on ubuntu 13.10 development release if that helps. I never really kept track of Unity!

Because of Amazon spyware, is exactly the reason why I don't buy any Amazon licensed devices. Anything that is made for them specifically, and connects to the internet, is gonna spy on you. I have many reasons to not trust Jeff Beezos, and thats because he's proven time and time again, that he's a shady mother BEEEEP!

@ star treker - agree on that entirely. Heard how he allowed staff 2 weeks paid leave maximum for COVID and that Amazon workers only get a maxim of two weeks off in a year to cover annual leave AND sickness and that they had no safe working practices in respect of COVID at various warehouses across the US.
