Hi all,
as the title suggests, if you wish to try out out Ubuntu 13.10; there are a couple of things I would like to make you aware of:
1: DON'T SELECT TO INSTALL UPDATES WHILST INSTALLING UBUNTU13.10 AS IT WILL KILL THE KERNEL AND WHEN YOU REBOOT, YOU WILL GET A MESSAGE ABOUT KERNEL PANIC!.
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubunt ... 71141.html
(The above link is slighty old but still actual!)
Do a full system update once you have installed using "DPKG" per this guide (Network cable Required!):
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2247
2: if you use the 64 Bit version and have trouble installing a 64 Bit 3rd party package, download the 32 Bit version of the same app and try using that, use "Gdebi" to install it!.
You might want to install the package "libgcc1":
and:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/i386 ... 08ubuntu36
3: Google Earth version 7.1 still sucks, download and use MV's copy of GE from his link here:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5690&p=27148#p27148
4: Installed "Fallback Mode" (old Gnome 2 Classic look) and it doesn't show any icons on the top panel at all!.
Hope it helps.
Regards Wolfman
