Ok so today i finished downloading Zorin OS 5 (after many failed attempts). I then made put it onto a usb using unetbootin and when i tried running it the screen didnt show up, i tried putting acpi_osi=Linux, which worked to get Sabayon linux to work, but it didnt work this time ... The only ubuntu distro that this didnt happen to on my laptop was ubuntu 10.04 LTS. The specs on my laptop is http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... tech-specs

do you currently have Ubuntu installed on the computer you downloaded Zorin on? if so you can follow these steps to make a boot-able USB stick for Zorin http://www.ubuntu.com/download/server/download

I haven't had Ubuntu installed for about 3 months, but 10.04 was the only one that worked with out the weird screen bug, I have a gentoo distro (Sabayon 7) currently. I already put Zorin OS core 5 onto a flash drive.

Is there an easy why to download it like via a torrent, i have really spotty internet connection so downloading it directly isnt the best.

Yea i will try that, thanks... Torrents need other people to have the complete file and for them to be "seeding" the file for it to be faster, but its like you download 1 piece of that file from one person then another from another person until the file is completely downloaded. But you really should get a torrent for the downloads

I tried going into windows and downloading the wireless drives from here http://www.laptop-software.com/acer-sof ... 7-drivers/ but when i put them into the zorin os system via the install windows drives it shows up in there as a valid drive that is also installed but i still can't connect to the internet it doesn't show any wireless networks. I even tried moving closer to a router / hotspot in my dorm and still nothing

That doesn't work doing "sudo ifconfig eth1" says that the device doesn't exist same thing with doing "sudo ifconfig wlan0"

All it showed was those two devices... Both were there before and after I installed the drive... I am using an Acer Aspire 5734z-4512

But the problem is that I can't connect to the Ethernet. When I was at home over the summer and I needed to make a live USB of Ubuntu 10.04 all it did was give me a message saying that there was a drive I needed to download, and then I plugged my laptop into the Ethernet and it downloaded the drive... But I can't do that here, it doesn't even give me the drive error message like it did for Ubuntu

Did you try the internet from the live CD, if so; did it work??.

When I was using ubuntu I tried getting it from the live cd and I also tried getting it from it installed but it didn't work until I downloaded the drive via Ethernet. Same-thing with Zorin
