Hello,

the PCMCIA slot of my Thinkpad Z60m is no longer recognized in Zorin OS 11 Core 32bit. In Zorin OS 9 Core 32bit it is recognized and works, but also it does not works in Zorin OS 9 lite.

Is there a solution for the Zorin OS 11 Core?

Hi, I am no expert in this area, but delving on the net led me to this:

http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/

I suspect it has something to do with the kernel in use? ;)

Thanks for the note.

It really seems to be a problem with the newer kernel. But I'm Linux newbie and now do not know, how I could solve this problem.

Looks like you are not the only one:

that said, Zorin 9 should be based on 14.04 - so provided you only install security updates and not kernel updates it might work? ;) :D

Hello,

ok, up to 2019 I only install the security updates.

But if this is a problem of the kernel, it would be useful to report this problem as bug to ubuntu-community so that they can fix the error for the next kernel version?

When the problem ist fixed, so I have no problems, when I load the new Zorin-version after 2019.

Hi, Ubuntu does not control the kernel - the kernel is monitored by Linus Torvalds and others and updates only get released on his say-so - Ubuntu and Zorin have no control over this - all distributions are the same. ;) :D

Remember, the people you should be approaching are the hardware manufacturers - lobby them to provide GNU/Linux drivers! ;)
