I'm confused about the version of Lite I installed

Hi,

Greetings from a new kid on the block.

I just downloaded what I thought was OS Lite 15.2 and installed it on a bootable USB key. I'm now enjoying my test drive of the OS, which is running on a Lenovo ThinkPad T400. However, when I opened the Terminal to verify the version I was running, I got the following response:

zorin@zorin:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Zorin
Description: Zorin OS 12.4
Release: 12
Codename: xenial

I am confused as to why I'm told I'm running Version 12.4, not 15.2, which I did download. Once I install the OS onto my HD and run the software updates, will my laptop then be upgraded to Version 15.2?

Please be gentle on me as I'm a perpetual newbie.

TIA.

No, Zorin version 12.4 will not upgrade to Zorin version 15.2. Zorin 12.4 would update and upgrade certain components but would remain the Xenial LTS.
I am not sure why it is you downloaded one version but got another. Something went wrong there... And if one thing went wrong- you don't want to trust the rest.
I would recommend that you download Zorin 15.2:

You may choose either Core or Lite.
I prefer Lite as that is XFCE desktop environment which is lighter and more customizable. Core uses Gnome Desktop. I think Lite may work better on a Lenovo Thinkpad.
Verify the checksum;

Then Test or install as you like.

Best download link is from here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/zorin-os/files/15/

The one thing to be aware of is that Zorin 15 only supports 64-bit in respect of Core, Lite offers 32-bit and 64-bit versions - be sure your machine is compatible.
