Zorin OS 15 issue

I currently have windows 10 on my acer aspire 5. Wahen I created my bootable Zorin iso with Rufus I used MPR and and fat32 defaults. After allowing WiFi and went through the stuff It skips dual boot and erase hard drive and goes straight to an empty installation screen. My problem is that it’s not detecting my windows software and I’ve done everything like turn off quick boot, secure Bootloader, and Did a shut down. And it’s not detecting my hard drive. And said no root file system defined.

I then came back an hour later and now it lets me get past the WiFi part and says my “computer has 0.00 BG

So why is it not detecting anything or my windows?
Why is it now saying there’s 0.00gb?

Did you use the "something else" option to install? See 5th screenshot here: viewtopic.php?t=4848

Right, it is not so simple doing the dual-boot method with Windows 10. You need to reduce the Windows "C:\" drive using Disk Manager first. The other thing in Windows itself is that you need to turn off the 'sleep' function of the hard-drive in Windows 10's Power Management settings - that is why it will never boot into anything else. Let's start off by running Zorin in live mode and then launch GParted by entering it in the search bar of the menu then take a screenshot of your current hard drive layout by using Screenshot (Menu | Utilities | screenshot) and saving it as a .jpg - you can then upload the image directly to this thread without recourse to using imgur.com.

It went from keyboard layout past time, past the something else screen, directly to installation type

The iso might be faulty? That has never happened to me on any distribution!

So I should should cut the partition in half and Use the back half for Zorin?

Its only detecting my USB not my windows already on the SSD with is a Acer default partion (NTFS).

It won't be detecting Windows because you have disabled EFI. You also state it is an SSD which can be tricky. If the SSD is formatted to NTFS then it should show. I will need to do some searching on this. ;) :D

I'd start with this:

I haven’t disabled any EFI. it’s a stock windows 10. SSD is NTFS. I followed your guide 100% and ended up with this

At this point I’m starting to wondering if Zorin is worth the trouble. I do NOT know why it’s going so difficult for my laptop.

Sorry carmar - hadn't spotted your response - good find! :D
Been without internet for about a day. All of a sudden my TP-Link Archer VR2600 DSL MU-/MIMO router got baulked - I suspect ISP not liking not using their router or I have suffered a DDOS attack without knowledge!

Sorry to hear. I have had a somewhat similar issue a while back. Used a router connected to my modem for years. Then, one day, ISP suddenly didn't like that system any more. Not that they fixed my issue, which was inability to connect wired. Been using wifi for years, since then. I learned it best not to ask the ISP for any help.

i fixed the lan issue - the ISP router had added '-Ethernet' and '-Wireless' and it's prompt stated that dashes should not be used in kit naming - once I got rid of all of that, LAN is working fine on all desktops using PowerLine adapters. :D
