Zorin on Old Mac

I have a old Mac that is not capable of handling the newer Mac OS's that I want to add Zorin to as well. My problem is that the internal HD is maxed for it's capabilities and I am using an external 1T with the highest MAC OS it is capable of handling meaning this is already a dual boot system.
Questions:
1. How easy is it to partition the HD to dual 500M drives without harming what is already one it; OS and data
2. If the above is reasonably easy, how would I add Zorin to the new partition?
3. Is any of the MAC apps compatible with Zorin or do I need third party Apps? If not, can you recomment WP, SS & Paint (dot matrix) apps.
4. on the Paint app, I have several thousand old Apple Works (Claris Works) paint docs I would like to convert. I still have an ancient Dome Mac with Apple Works on it.

Hi BillBates1, and welcome to the forum! Not being a Mac owner I can only advise on what I have searched on line - the make of drive would be helpful - this is what I found so far:

If you are looking at a word Processor, Zorin comes with LibreOffice can import certain Mac WP files:



GIMP can handle RAW Apple QuickTake QTK files, not sure if other formats are supported.

LibreOffice comes as standard on all Linux distributions these days, as does GIMP so you won't have to install anything else.

For Paint packages other than GIMP there is Scaled Vector Graphics application Inkscape 1.0, other free quality Paint packages include Krita, My Paint. Krita is available from the repositories - not sure about My Paint from memory.
Responding in the other LinuxOS I use for work! If you intend/need documents to be fully compatible with someone using MS Word then I'm afraid LibreOffice still can't cut the mustard - that's why I have had to fork out for proprietary SoftMaker Office 2021 for Linux (will also run on Mac) from Germany - It's a great office suite, easier on the eye and if you want to revert to the style of Office 2003 you can change it's interface to look like that if you can't stand the 'ribbon'. For photography there is Shotwell which I think is present in Core - I would also recommend another great free application, written by photographers for photographers - Darktable - and it supports PhotoShop files - and you can export with PhotoShop Profiles.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there is a DotMatrix Paint Package in Linux - all I could find was one for Windows and whether it would work under WINE (Wine Is No Emulator) is another question and absolutely no guarantees:

If its an imac with amd graphics it will for sure only work with nomodeset activated. Otherwise you will have a black screen since there are no compatible linux drivers for such old ati cards.
