How to install Zorin OS 5.2 on a Mac

Eldin

I've been trying to download Zorin OS 5.2 on my Macbook Pro 2011 for quite some time now, I've downloaded Zorin 3 time and burned 5 different discs at the slowest possible speed, and have been stuck at usually the same step.

I log onto the installation and enter the Live DVD, it brings up the Zorin logo and loads, then a black screen pops up and it says "initramfs", I've read that word so many times it's driving me crazy.

Only one disc was able to get through that step (after my CS professor made a md5 check), and after logging into Zorin I press the install button and it gives an error about that program with the orange foot logo (can't remember it's name, Gnu or something), and I press ignore this error, for some reason Zorin can't read the wireless connection, so I try installing without that, then the load logo just keeps after I press forward and it stays like that forever.

I was really hoping to have Zorin OS and use it as my main system ,so if anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your time guys!
Eldin.

Hi Eldin,

firstly you can check out this link about installing on a MAC:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro

Secondly, the message you are getting is basically telling you that it "ain't gonna install", because you may well have a faulty "e2fsck" root filesystem tool, you need to try the safe-vesa-mode (Boot Live in safe graphics mode) which is the 2nd option in the boot list!!, make sure you fully boot the live CD before committing to install and check that everything is working, sound; internet etc.

Try the disk on a different PC first before you continue!!.

Did you download the ISO from different places or download the same ISO several times??, you might try a different download link if you didn't and make sure you use Firefox to do so!!.

Please wait a few for the next full version of Zorin, ver 6 will be ready soon !!.

I hope this helps you further!!.

Hi Wolfmann,

I'm not gonna lie to you, those steps in one of the links that solved this problem looked risky.

If I wait for Zorin 6, will it have the same issues during installation on a Mac?

Hi Eldin,

I cannot answer that as I don't have a MAC, if the Z6 ISO is burnt correctly you should not have a problem.

Have you checked this link out:
