I checked the MD5 value using WinMD5 free and it was a match.

I burned all the .iso at 2 speed and verified the disc also with Nero Burning ROM (the verify was a success)
(I did this with both discs)

Still the same problem.
PS. I was wondering, I heard something that Sony lock their BIOS - I know no more that that. (Is that the problem)

Thanks again

Dave

Hi Dave,

your current problem aside, if you can a little while longer, Zorin 6 will be out soon and you can try that!!.

Are you trying to install directly or have you first booted in Live mode to see if the OS will run on the PC, you said that there is nothing on the HDD, have you pre-formatted the drive or are you using the Zorin partitioning tool to create the partitions for you??.

Try booting in "Safe graphics mode" first which is the 2nd option and make sure that the OS runs with internet and sound etc.

I would create your own partitions first using a partitioning tool, you must create a swap, root and home partition.

swap has no mount point and should be about 1GB or double your RAM if you prefer.
root should be about 15 - 20 GB with the mount point / (forward slash)
home can be any size but not less than 20GB and has the mount point /home (forward slash + home)

I have run zorin in live mode and it seems to work nicely!

From what I can gather the OS is installing but the problem comes into effect when setting up the grub boot menu.

I first installed zorin I chose the delete windows option and let the inbulit partition manager handle it from there,
(Thus I know the HDD is blank)
HDD is working (not crashed) because there is not slow down, clicking noise and windows worked fine on it.)

That was my take away from that,

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Just a suggestion, but maybe you should download and burn an iso disc of ubuntu 12.04 and try installing that first....if that installs properly, then it should be easy to switch to zorin by then having it wipe out ubuntu and re-install with zorin if you prefer...

Any time i got a new computer, i always had 100% luck with wiping out windows and the grub being set up properly with the new ubuntu system...
just a thought...you could try! ;)

As far as Zorin goes, if you could get the actual ubuntu installed, you might want to just leave it on for a while and then wait for Zorin 6 to arrive (which should be very soon, actually)...

In fact, i am currently running ubuntu 12.04 with the Cairo Dock session w/unity panel (gives you the nice global menu but without the unity)...when you install cairo dock on ubuntu it sets up several log in options on the log-in screen automatically...

Using Ubuntu 12.04 w/cairo dock for me is almost as nice as running Zorin (no offense to the "Zorinites" here)
So, you might play with that for awhile if you can get that going while awaiting for Zorin 6 final release...

So ubuntu 12 installed ok.
Its running fine......
But I want to install Zorin!!

Any suggestions?

What about installing zorin 6 pre-release?

Ill reinstall zorin to see if it works.

you are welcome, Dave...you know, my "instincts" told me that would likely work for you ;)

you will probably want to re-install with zorin 6 when it goes final...meanwhile, enjoy...
