Booting from CD stops

I'm having problems with starting Zorin 6 core.
When I boot from CD it stops. I think it may have something to do with my graphics card. It's a Dell computer with a ATI Radeon HD 3450 graphics card.
How do I avoid this problem?

Hi,

did you burn the CD at the slowest possible speed??, if you didn't, this may be the reason and you need to reburn it!!.

Have you also tried the 2nd option in the menu which is "Safe Mode" ??.

You can also try "nomodeset":

* At install screen press F6 and select nomodeset and install Ubuntu as usual.
* On first boot after install, press e on getting the GRUB bootloader.
* Using arrow keys navigate to and delete quiet and splash and type the word nomodeset in their place
* Press Ctrl and X to boot
* You should now be able to login to your Ubuntu as usual

It's not a graphics problem.
I removed quiet and splash, so I could ses what happend.
It stops because of my wireless card, saying somthing like: "b43" firmware/driver update.
It's a Broadcom BCM4318 card.
What do I do now?

When going to the boot menu options press tab, and in the end of the command line write

b43.blacklist=yes

and then hit <enter> to boot.

You can use this method to install zorin, or just get to the desktop, and then you can just load the broadcom sta driver from "additional drivers" to get your wifi working.

Thanks. I'll try that :-)

Hi,

you can also switch it off with the FN + F2 keys (as an example), other notebooks have a different switch layout and/or a slider switch for Wifi. It might be FN + F5/6/78, you just need to look for the little sat symbol on the keypad!.

I think to do that, you need first to get on the desktop of your OS. Svante advises that he cannot even boot to the desktop.

Hi MV,

as soon as the PC boots, you should be able to start pressing the FN + key at almost any stage of the boot process, I can with my PB Easynote!!.

If that's true, he can try your method first. It's much easier.
