Hi there,

I am trying to install Zorin on my Dell laptop, however when it gets to the "Boot the Live System" and I hit enter, it just freezes and does nothing.

Is Zorin compatible with this laptop, or is there something else I should be doing?

Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8600

DVD successfully installed Zorin on a Dell 531s, so I know the DVD is OK.

Try this. When you see the Zorin boot screen, select Boot the Live System and press the TAB KEY. At the bottom of the menu, you will see:
> /casper/vmlinuz file=cdrom/preseed/custom.seed boot-casper initrd=/casper/initrd.gz quiet splash --

Remove "quiet splash --" so it looks like the following below:
> /casper/vmlinuz file=cdrom/preseed/custom.seed boot-casper initrd=/casper/initrd.gz

Press the ENTER key.

Do you see the following:
Loading /casper/vmlinuz.......
Loading /casper/initrd.gz................ready.
This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU:
pae
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.

I had the same problem with my old Gateway 3522GZ laptop as the CPU does not support pae. However, I was able to create a non-pae version of Zorin OS 6.
See this thread for more details.
