Zorin on USB Drive

Can I make a bootable USB 3.0 thumb drive that contains a full installation of Zorin complete with my own custom configurations and wallpaper. My laptop has a USB 3.0 slot and it should be fast enough. I would also like to save data to the drive.

Hi lenberman, To do this you will need to install 'Remastersys':

http://remastersys.sourceforge.net/

Make an .iso file but don't burn it to CD - then install MultiSystem3 from Softpedia site:

http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload ... 55623.html

I will try and find madvinegar's install instructions for .sh files if I can - then run MultiSystem and choose the 'Persistent' option. WARNING if remastersys starts to overheat your notebook stop using it! I have seen posts about this issue elsewhere - there are some alternatives to Remastersys but never tried it (I used Remastersys on Zorin 3.2 - worked really well and burned all my accounts and data to DVD!

Should this be done in Windows or Zorin?

MultiSystem requires an install to Linux. Download the tarball from Softpedia - extract to your downloads folder.

Next open a terminal and enter:

Code:
cd Downloads

then

Code:
sudo ,/[name of package.sh

This will start the installation process of MultiSystem and some other needed apps that will show up in mini terminal windows. I find it far superior to Unetbootin with drag and drop functionality.

Remastersys appears to be present in Zorin 8 but only via command line. You could try one of the others and the link to remastersys is now at 'Remastersys.com' and not sure how to cope with the pgp key to get it acknowledged in Zorin.
