Installation on new hard drive

Message: something must be wrong with your download for the free version. I've tried 64 bit & 32 bit and I get a screen and go to install direct and wait and an icon comes up but that's it... This is being installed on a new hard drive with no operating system on it other than its been formatted for ntfs files. what I see on info on the net it should install but it doesn't????????

How did you install it? via flash drive or dvd?
Did you check md5 after download and after burning dvd?
