I'm a Linux newbie. I can successfully install Zorin 6 (Lite), but my burner balks at Zorin 8. Initially displays the Zorin page, I select the default (Live?) thingy, then after a few minutes, the screen goes black... no activity for 30 min. or more. (No luck with "direct installation"(?) either)
It's as though my burner can deal with the "lite" installation", but is "overwhelmed" by the "heavy" version. Although, my research indicates that my computer should be able to run the regular version with ease.
Also, can't get USB flash drive to work using Plop.
No luck with Smart Boot Manager either... although I can't remember what exactly that is.
Managed to create floppy with RawWrite.
Also tried Unetbootin... can't remember what that is either.
10 yr old Gateway desktop, P-4 3.0GZ processor, 4GB DDR RAM, 60GB solid-state HD... running Windows XP Home.
Specs on 8 yr old optical drive: http://www.cdrinfo.com/sections/reviews ... leid=12429
(all discs burned using Nero, at lowest possible (2,4X) speed)
Got an nVidia card... don't know if I have the confidence to mess with that, though.
Performed checksum on the iso using MD5 & SHA Checksum Utility 2.1
Tried three different brands of DVD+RW discs
Tried two USB flash drives using multiple file systems (FAT, FAT32, exFAT, etc.)
