[SOLVED] Got stuck with unofficial ZorinOS 6.2Core 32 nonpae

Hello!
I am complete novice at Linux.
I have an old laptop Acer Travelmate c300 with Win XP 32 on it. Since XP support is ending I decided to install Linux and found Zorin Os.

I wanted to have dual boot installation, so I prepared a partition for it.
Initially I downloaded Zorin 8.1 and tried to install it, but soon realized that it cannot be installed because my laptop CPU is non-pae.

I read forums and found this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2298&hilit=non+pae
and then found Unofficial ZorinOS 6.2Core 32 nonpae iso, prepared by the same topic starter:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/zorin62nonpae/

So I downloaded and installed this version with no problems.

However, when I tried to run a system updates using Update Manager (it found 37 pending updates), they all failed due to file not found errors. Here is the link to the errors text:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ng0 ... sp=sharing

My guess is this is because it's an old version. So I tried to install official ZorinOS 6.4 over, but it fails with the same non-pae related error.

I searched through the forums, but could not find anyone that has the same problem.
Please help, I don't really know what to do now.

A shame you uploaded to Google docs - my router is set to block all things Google! Please don't take this the wrong way but I would advise looking at a different distro:

http://trisquel.info or http://lxle.net :D

Could you share how you did it for the benefit of other members? Thanks! :D

And glad you got it solved!

Thanks Swarfendor437.
I used Synaptic Package Manager - marked all pending packages and downloaded them.
When it's finished, the Update Manager pending changes were gone, maybe they were installed as well.
Since then there was another single batch of updates in Update Manager and I had no problem applying it.

Thanks for sharing - did you have to add any repositories to the Update Manager? :D

Using stasks info I managed to revive my Samsung NP30 easily . The Zorin Software is definitely the best OS for ease of setting up .
