From Lite to Full Zorin

I have an older computer that won't allow me to run Zorin from the DVD because it doesn't see the DVD as one during boot. It runs the CD fine. I have installed the Lite version, but would like to upgrade it to the full version. The system will handle it (1gig processor, 512 M ram). Can this be done from the Lite version?
Also, is there a way to disable the network boot option on start up? It wants to hang there waiting for input.

Does your PC have a DVD drive or just a CD drive??. If you don't have an internal DVD drive, do you have an external??. (maybe borrow one!!)

The other alternative is to do it via USB if your PC supports USB booting!!. (an external DVD drive would also require USB boot support!!)

Info for USB booting below.

http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

You can build up Zorin lite by simply installing packages to however you want it, just make sure that if you install other desktop packages (gnome, kde or whatever) that you select the desktop that you want when the packages are being installed, a message will pop up asking you what the default desktop should be!!. If you want it to boot to gnome, then select gdm or for kde; select kde. etc. etc .etc

Hope this helps.

I installed a DVD ROM (a couple of them to make sure it wasn't a hardware problem )but it doesn't see it as a DVD until the OS boots and supplies drivers. Only runs as a CD. The system does not support USB booting. The computer is a Gateway Performance 1000 and I haven't been able to find a BIOS update that might fix the DVD issue.

You can try "Plop" boot manager, go to this website:

http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager.html

Follow the instructions to see if this will help you, you can maybe create a pendrive (USB) install:

http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
