Zorin 9 Installation Issue

I'm trying to run Linux on a "hp pavilion 513n" desktop my parents bought back in 2002. It's running XP, so I went ahead and created a 32-bit Zorin 9 disc which I have tried to install 3-4 times. I keep getting stuck at the part where you drag the divider to partition the drive. The "Install Now" button stays grayed out and I can't move forward.

The specs for the computer can be found at : http://www.cnet.com/products/hp-pavilio ... ies/specs/

The hard drive is 60 GB, and memory is 128+512 MB. I'm not sure if the issue is that my hard drive is too small, or that my computer is just too old; I did try to make a USB but when I went into the Bios, booting from a flash drive wasn't an option.

I wanted to see if anyone else had this problem or knows of a way to get around it.

Thanks for your time, definitely appreciate any help thrown my way.

Hi, I don't think it is the size of the Hard Drive but I think a combination of Processor and memory - you would be better waiting for the release of Zorin 9 Lite - in the meantime I can highly recommend LXLE (http://lxle.net) and go for the Revisited 12.04.4 32-bit version.

Thanks for the response Swarfendor437, I actually did try LXLE; it worked fine on my old Toshiba Satellite, but also no luck on the desktop.

I'll just wait for Zorin 9 Lite, and hopefully that will work.

Appreciate the help.

Well hopefully it won't be too long before it is out - I know there are one or two folks desperate to try - another option would be to take a look at Linux Lite or Quelitu (http://wavesofthefuture.net/computers/l ... free.shtml)

Try this trick I found.
Whilst on the live cd/usb do all the updates before starting the installation.
i.e open terminal and run

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

and then start the installation.
