Can't seem to find any comments about whether Zorin OS will work on an older "non-pae" laptop or not. I have finally figured out this was my problem after downloading many Linux distros that would not load that they were PAE and my old Dell Inspiron 600M, 160gb HD, 2gb Ram is Non-PAE. Any info would be appreciated as after reading about Zorin I feel this is the answer for those of us displaced Win XP people.

I installed zorin lite 9, checked in terminal (more specifically withing /boot/config) and it is using pae.
I think that Zorin does not offer non-pae kernel for the time being.

Zorin OS 9 Lite is based on Lubuntu 14.04. I installed it yesterday on my daughters 10 year old Thinkpad, which does not support PAE. The forcepae flag explained on Lubuntu's website works and it's running great.

That is very good news. Maybe after I did the updates, the system found out that my CPU is pae and enabled it. CPUs not supproting pae, may be treated differently. The important thing is that Zorin Lite can be installed in non-pae systems.
Thanks for the info daspicer!
