Zorin 9 (core) installation: scrambled screen

Hey,

I'm trying to install Zorin 9 (core) on a laptop with a 'VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP' graphics card, but I get a scrambled screen after the initial boot.

Adding nomodeset to the kernel parameters doesn't seem to help either.

Anyone any suggestions? or is there a way to install it without X, so I can fix the graphics card issue after the installation?
