Hi, I am a newbie to Linux/Ubuntu as will become apparent.
Decided to load ZORIN OS9 onto my Win7 PC as duel boot.
Burnt DVDW, no problems.
Looked great so proceeded to install.
Let the disk do all the work, but only my USB 2TB backup drive shown ??
So thought oh well install must know what its doing so go ahead.
Left it overnight to load.
On boot up Grub Rescue line came up so I did ctrl, alt, del to get too Zorin /win7 choice menu.
Seems to work but not happy that my 2terra byte usb backup drive is full up !!
So back to windows, drive partitions show 2 partitions one @ 800gb Another @ 186.70gb on my windows drive, both empty, presume not mounted.
So do I delete both volumes (only option not greyed out) ? And then try reinstall with USB Drive unplugged ?, then reconnect USB drive and delete partitions?
Hope this makes sense..

Hi, Sorry, it is a bit confusing!

1. Please provide details with the specification etc of your machine:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5449

2. You should not have any external drives attached (apart from the USB thumb drive you are installing from) connected at install time.

3. To make things clearer can you post a screenshot of all your hard drives (and mark each photo as to what each drive is. Thanks.

(Instructions of how to upload a screenshot on my veoh.com account - just search for my user - not many videos on their so should be easy to find! ;) )

Read many many posts on many sites & ended up deleting the Zorin partitions on USB drive then repairing the grub.
Sorry can't explain more but can't find post but remember it was a simple line in Command Prompt.

Want to install zorin OS9 on windows drive, (not usb hdd as before).
"gparted" shows error & C:\ not mounted?
So using windows7 Ultimate will add a partition but not sure NTFS or Fat32 ?
