[SOLVED] Zorin OS 9 or 8 installation issue

Hi. I tried to install Zorin OS9 and Zorin OS8 in a Gateway NV78 laptop. The DVD loads up but after selecting install or Run Live OS options screen goes black and stay that way. I tried installing windows 7 and it works fine. Have you encounter this situation before? If yes, please tell me a solution. I really want to try this OS. Looks promising.

Hi, Don't use version 8 - it is no longer supported (like Windows XP!).

When booting from 9 you should see a blue screen with keyboard logo = acccessibility logo at bottom centre - press space bar then press F6 and select 'acpi=off'

Tried your suggestion, marked acpi=off but screen stayed black after trying to install OS.

Done!!! Used the nomodeset option and now Zorin 9 is installed and running!!!! Thanks a lot!!!
