Issues Creating a LiveUSB from another Linux distro

Hi there,

I'm trying to deploy an ISO of ZorinOS 9 to my USB pendrive and boot it on my current PC, which is based around the mobo DH55PJ, and a laptop of the series Asus Eee PC. First off: The ISO worked properly when installing it to a VM from start to finish.

My current OS which I use to create the LiveUSB is Linux Mint 17.1. I've tried both UNetbootin and Startup Disk Creator. Upon selecting that I want to try ZorinOS without installing, I'm getting an error that says the system cannot mount /dev/loop0 and squashfs doesn't exist. This persists on 2 different PCs. Any idea how to solve it?

I think you may have a bad download.

1. Use only Firefox or Opera to download and DON'T use a download accelerator manager!

2. Check the md5sum of the downloaded .iso (open a terminal, navigate to the iso and assuming you downloaded to a GNU/Linux desktop, navigate in a terminal to where you downloaded to and enter:

md5sum zorin-os-9-core-32.iso

or 64 if 64-bit and wait for it to be returned.

Then check against what is stated here:

Hi, thanks for the answer. (Un)fortunately the MD5 sum is perfectly OK. I'm also using Firefox with no download accelerator.

Yes I have, I possibly have been formatting that USB drive about 25 times for the past 24 hours. MD5 check is good and the USB does boot, but it does not get past the keyboard/accessibility/"I want to try Zorin without installing" menu.

What are your system specs and have you thought about using a lighter version of Zorin OS like the Lubuntu based Lite version?.

As I've said in the OP, the issue persists on 2 different computers. For funsies, I'll tell you the specs of the more powerful PC (which is also my daily driver desktop):
Intel core i5-760, DH55PJ, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT220, 1TB HDD, currently running Linux Mint 17.1, used to run both Ubuntu 14.04 and WIndows 8.1 with ease.

As for my LiveUSB creation method, they have now been extended: I've also tried doing it on a Windows 8.1 machine, using Universal USB Installer, using another USB pendrive and another downloaded copy of Zorin OS. Selecting the option "nomodeset" didn't do the trick as well.
