Hi,

Lite should work:

For the LXDE based versions (Lite):
266 MHz x86 processor
2GB of Hard Drive space
128 MB of system memory (RAM)
Graphics card capable of 640x480 resolution

If not using for crucial stuff and only OS I would plump for auto. :D

I’m on my second attempt installing Zorin Light and coming up to 4 hours, started at 7:15am, I may go for a lighter OS like Salx Linux on this old laptop, poor old thing is struggling

Try LXLE or old version of elementary OS - LXLE is only available as a torrent I'm afraid! :D

Well Zorin light just wont install on this old laptop :( and looked up system requirements for Lxle

LXLE is designed to have a low system footprint. In other words it doesn't take a lot of hardware resources to run well. Those saved resources are then spent on full featured capable programs to provide a complete desktop experience even on aging hardware, roughly any computer produced in the past ten years.

Todays' internet demands a great deal of resources to be an adequate online experience. Although LXLE could run on lower specs, it's usefulness online would be negligible.
Absolute Minimum Requirement for an 'OK' online experience.
Pentium 3 processor with at least 512 mb of ram and 8 GB of hard drive space.

Recommended system requirements for an 'adequate' experience.
Pentium 4 processor with 1gb or more of ram and 8 GB of hard drive space..

Bodhi Linux burnt with ImgBurn wont even boot (maybe its the file system as Zorin part loaded) so now wiping the HDD with DBAN 3 passes = about 2 hours

Hi,

when you see the boot logo that looks like a small keyboard, press any key and then F6 and select "acpi=off" and then try booting and see if that helps!.
