Removing Zorin OS

I'm looking to remove Zorin OS and try Mint. It's currently installed as a dual boot alongside Windows 7 OS.

Would prefer to just delete the partition, following the instructions on this youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xuPeeuIcqQ

Would this be the quickest and simplest method to proceed with?

A few more details would help - is GRUB in the bootloader of mbr? That is, do you have to boot into GRUB to boot to Windows from the menu?

I'm not sure what you mean. Very green to this.

I turn on the computer and a light blue screen appears that gives me a choice to boot Zorin or Windows. If I do nothing, after a few seconds Zorin boots automatically.

Hi, well first off to get you back to normal with just windows, boot into that first and create a 'repair disk' - just enter the phrase in Windows 7 search bar at bottom of the windows menu. Once created, boot off the repair disc and choose 'repair' windows installation. Let it do its thing then choose advanced mode, choose the 'dos' (cmd) prompt and when you get to the windows it should show the current directory as X:\ ... - change to 'C:\ and once there enter:

bootrec.exe /FixBoot

followed by

Code:

bootrec.exe /FixMbr

Then once in Windows, right-click 'Computer' and select 'Manage' - go to Disk Management then delete any partitions that are NOT marked as 'system' (100 Mb to left of 'C:\) or 'C:\' where Windows lives - if any 'hidden' partitions are shown, don't delete those either - then delete the Zorin OS partition.

just boot from the Mint disk and run the installer and overwrite the partitions using the method I proposed earlier, there is no need to first remove Zorin and then install Mint, simply overwrite the partitons!.

What Wolfman has said is correct - I was offering the choice whereby you keep the mbr intact so that when you do want to make a change and anything goes wrong with GRUB you can still boot into Windows - if you have a separate internal hard drive, even better to have the OS's on different drives.

With regard to the video link you provided - if the guy had used NeoSmart EasyBCD in the first place he would not have had to bother with the 'mini-tool partition wizard'! (See my video tutorial on dual-booting - you create a '/boot' partition and put 'GRUB' there.
