[MOVED] HTPC Final Stages

G'Day folks,

I have a HTPC running Zorin 9 64 bit on an older pc and I am struggling to achieve the below and I would be very grateful for any assistance...

1/ I want to run my HTPC which has Zorin OS installed as well as Kodi on to run headless(?) without a monitor. I have it hooked up to a projector now I don't want to fire up the PJ each time I need to access the HTPC. What to do?? :|
2/ How can I access the login screen without monitor attached so I can select Zorin or Koid when the need arises, and
3/ Can I run Kodi all the time in the foreground and remotely login to do other activities?? If this cannot be done easily can you advise of a web gui based file manager that I can setup on the HTPC and use it from my laptop?? I have qtorrent installed and is running via a web gui and it would be a huge benefit to me to be able to move, rename, copy, delete files. I have looked at web admin but it doesn't help me.

Thanks so much....

What you need to do (and I have not worked this out how OzDiamond BII managed to do it!) is to have an "announcement" via audio that you are at the login screen like this:

https://vimeo.com/126311678

The video shows the 3 audio files present in OzDiamond-BII - but only the boot audio and login audio ever worked - pity, the shut-down log-out audio is also very nice!

I am in Win 10 at present (been playing - that is all it is good for! LOL!) - will post back what I found elsewhere later - in the meantime:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diskless_ ... t_in_Linux (mentions video streaming in this article - but be sure to read all of it!)

Back later. ;) :D
