Updating Zorin

I am running Zorin 9 and want to keep it up-to-date. I recall a few versions ago, I installed updates and it killed Zorin. I was later told, I think on this forum, that I was not supposed to update Zorin because it was a mod of Ubuntu and the updates were specific for Ubuntu. I just wanted to make sure that is still correct that I should not be updating Zorin.

Thanks,
Jim

Just make sure that you:

1. Have your update manager settings on "Notify me of a new Ubuntu version" is set to Never!

2. Make sure that updates are set to download from "Main Server"

Updates include security updates so yes you should maintain your system - don't worry you cannot check the items on the uploaded screen - you will get security etc updates as they arise by default.

Always keep your current working kernel so that if a new kernel cripples your machine you can choose an earlier kernel to boot to by choosing the second menu item in the GRUB menu at boot time! ;) :D
