Congrats to you who have had success with easy installs
I want to like this program, really.
I started install in Nov and still don't have a stable working system
1) No wifi
2) No printer; HP xp-610 installed. Test page works from http://localhost:631/printers/Epson-WorkForce-610, but when I try to print from any Zorin program I get multiple blank pages
3) When I ran the update software program I got an error message I was unable to decipher. I wanted to take a screen shot and think I actually saw that option somewhere but I have no hope of refinding it. I tried to find the solution online but nothing worked so far. Something that simple shouldn't be this hard.
4) While trying to accomplish the above I decided to download preinstalled software called Shutter. The screen went black and I was back to login. The message I had to respond to (and was trying to take a screen shot of) had disappeared. I don't know what happened to Shutter.
5) Minimizing Firefox causes it to disappear and I have no clue how to get it back.

I've spent days trying to resolve these issues, but each attempt result in a new problem without solving the old one.

On the plus side there are a number of excellant people providing support, and I appreciate their hard work.

I don't mind solving problems, but on the other hand a computer is a tool that I expect to work for me, not the other way around. I was hoping to abandon Windows on this PC but at this point my MacBook is looking pretty good. I told HP my option for the DV1000 involved a sledgehammer, and that also is looking like a plausible option. I guess I'll sleep on it.

Well I finished the above rant and went to shutdown. Interestinly, I got an aptly named GDbus error which I have no idea how to handle other than being quite familiar with one terminal command sudo shutdown -P now, which I shall now execute

It could be a Bluetooth error?:

1) No wifi - I have stated elsewhere - please wait for madvinegar to respond or search his posts in this section - the solution might already be here! ;)

2) No printer; HP xp-610 installed. Test page works from http://localhost:631/printers/Epson-WorkForce-610, but when I try to print from any Zorin program I get multiple blank pages - Please read Wolfman's post install guide (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9785) which covers Printers such as HP in the print section - the workforce 610 is a new printer so it may not be present - you need to ensure that hplip and hp toolbox are installed via synaptic package manager!

4) While trying to accomplish the above I decided to download preinstalled software called Shutter. Correction! Pre-installed means it comes with the Operating System! What you get with Zorin is Menu | Accessories | Screenshot! ;) :D The screen went black and I was back to login. The message I had to respond to (and was trying to take a screen shot of) had disappeared. I don't know what happened to Shutter.

5) Minimizing Firefox causes it to disappear and I have no clue how to get it back. Not had that issue on my machine so could be a unique issue to you? Giver Opea 12.16 a go but install it from Opera.com and choose the .deb package - DON'T install from Software Center/re

If Zorin is giving you big issues we need to look at square one - where downloaded from, whether Download Accelerator Manager was used, whether md5 checksum was checked against the official md5 checksum on the Official Zorin download page and what software used to burn the DVD (imgburn every time!) and if to USB what software used to create and that it was fully formatted to FAT32 before adding the iso! ;) :D If Zorin is still an issue for you I would advise you take a look at LXLE, Qelitu, or Makulu as suitable alternatives - the last one stated also gives a good Windows type environment - https://vimeo.com/132269126 - Makulu "Aero" was a final release as at end November - you could add Cairo Dock DE or Cinammon DE for a better Zorin experience!

Well I hate to be beat too easily so I may just try a third install. I do have a USB with Zorin lite loaded and checked with MD5 checksum.
I will follow Wolffman's suggestion of having updates applied before I run Zorin, although it was my understanding that having my ethernet connected during install would take care of updates.
I will wait for instructions from madvinegar regarding wifi.
I will also follow wolfman suggestion re HP printers, although it's odd that the HP link I provided earlier has no problem printing a test page
Regarding screenshot, my accessories menu does not have a "screenshot" option listing
You are probably correct in assigning BDbus error to Bluetooth, but I haven't got as far as Bluetooth yet
Disappearing Firefox seems to be related to the system defaulting to two screens which I was unfamiliar with, and somehow I was jumping between screens and still don't know how to get back to screen one if the two boxes don't appear at the top.
I'm also unfamiliar with how to right click and drag a Firefox screen to a smaller size which I can do in XP or Macbook
Anyhow, wish me luck
