Hi everybody. I'm a complete linux noob and am very frustrated as I can't get internet access on my newly rebuilt computer! I got the wireless card to work on a computer running windows so i know its functional, however I can't get it to work on my zorin os cp. Furthermore I can't even figure out how to set up an ethernet connection. Could somebody help me to make this thing work?

Try this after plugging in the netgear usb stick.

1) Open terminal and run:
Code:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential

2) Download from this link a zip file with the drivers for your Netgear:

https://codeload.github.com/abperiasamy ... zip/master

3) Once the zip file is downloaded, you will find it in your Downloads folder. Right click it and select "extract here" so it may be extracted.

4) Then open terminal again and run the following 4 commands:

Code:
cd /home/$USER/Downloads/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux-master
make
sudo make install
sudo modprobe 8812au

Hopefully your wireless will start working. (you may need to unplug and re-plug the netgear usb stick).

Note:
If it works, in case there is a kernel update, you would need to re-install the drivers as follows:

Code:
cd /home/$USER/Downloads/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux-master
make clean
make
sudo make install
sudo modprobe 8812au

That did the trick! I do still need help configuring my wireless network though. I have no idea where to find information like MAC address or how much of that information i actually even need
