How can I get rid of desktop icons?

I've tried selecting and using the delete key to no avail. Right clicking on the icons does me no good either. Is there anything else I can do to get rid of them? I'm using Zorin 10 Ultimate.

Hi, Not sure, but check 'Preferences' (Menu | System Tools | Preferences) - You could also try Menu | System Tools | System Settings - can't remember if you can change things there! ;) :D

If you are referring to the "Home" "Trash" and "Network" icons?

I used "tweak tool" from the software centre the one with gnome 3 in the description, or "gnome-tweak-tool" in synaptic package manager.

After installing, run it and go to the "Desktop" tab on the left side and deselect the ones you want to remove.

Have done this on Zorin 9, 10 and 11. Works a treat!

Big THANKS MBMz10! Just installed Z11 and wanted a nice, clean desktop. Worked well.
